Information Security Certification
I have decades of experience with computers and networks but this course was still very challenging. Saylor says:
We will look into such topics as fundamentals of information security, computer security technology and principles, access control mechanisms, cryptography algorithms, software security, physical security, and security management and risk assessment. By the end of this course, you will be able to describe major information security issues and trends, and advise an individual seeking to protect his or her data.
And they are not kidding! I’ve done my fair share of ( not illegal ) hacking, been RedHat certified, and run web servers for 20 years. However, I still learned allot from this class. Particularly the details of encryption was fairly new to me. I now well versed.
Based on this course I can relatively comfortably recommend Saylor Academy’s classes. I’ve already registered for another class and will try to work it around my new found obsession with Python… Oh! And if you are not interested in computer science they have many other classes like Art, History, etc. The best part is that in addition to the certifications many of their classes can earn you college credits.
So if you need a little help securing your digital life style or limiting your businesses exposure to hacking, ransomware, etc. get in touch. I would be happy to discuss your information security needs.
